“But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control…”
One of the things I enjoy about summer is the fruit. In particular watermelon. What fruit do you enjoy? Watermelon is filled with sweetness, plenty of water and vitamins A and C. Growing up my siblings and I use to sit on the back porch to enjoy our huge slices of greatness. My mother never cut the watermelon into cubes like we see today in the grocery stores. Instead we ate it straight from the rind. It would get a little messy sometimes eating it this way but as a child this was the best way to demolish my favorite fruit. As an adult I still eat it straight from the rind sometimes. On a hot summer day it refreshes my soul and keeps me coming back for more.
Every fruit starts off with a seed. It’s planted in the proper soil and with care it grows. Without the seed there is no fruit.
Today’s text speak of the fruit of the Spirit. The Spirit is the seed of the fruit. This fruit is produced in the believer when we allow the seed, i.e. the Holy Spirit to grow in our lives and lead our lives. Just like watermelon the fruit of the Spirit is tasty and filled with nutritional value. When I allow the Spirit to produce its fruit within me my attitude is better, my patience are longer, my words are kinder, my hormones are controlled, my life overall is much more beneficial.
Plant the seed of the Holy Spirit in your life. If you have planted the Holy Spirit in your life are you seeing fruit produced? Is the fruit produced some days more than other days? The more we live out God’s word the more we see the Spirit produce fruit within us. #LivingTheLife
