“But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.”
R&B artist Usher had a hit album in 2004 entitled Confessions. “Everything I’ve been doing is all bad. I got a chick on the side with a crib and a ride. I’ve been telling you so many lies. Aint no good it’s all bad and I just wanna confess. It’s been going on so long. Girl I been doing you so wrong.” In part one of the song Confessions he is telling his girl that he has been cheating. “Just when I thought I said all I could say my chick on the side said she got one on the way.” In part two he now has to tell his girl that he is about to be a father. What a confession? If truth be told, we’ve ALL done wrong. Usher’s “wrong” wasn’t no worse or better than my wrong or your wrong. The only thing is he wasn’t sure if his girl was going to forgive him.
When I read today’s text joy fills my soul and a smile covers my face to know that I can take my wrong to God. This is a promise text that we all should appreciate. God doesn’t put limits on who can come to Him. He is available 24/7 for you and for me. No matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or who you’ve done it with, to or for. God will forgive EVERY sin if we confess. Not only will He forgive us of every sin but He will also clean us out from wanting to continue to do wrong. That’s amazing! God doesn’t want us to stay the same. He desires that we become more like Him. Not only that but God will not hold it against us like some people will.
Confession starts with telling God what you did wrong. You don’t have to be on your knees. You don’t have to close your eyes. You don’t even have to bow your head. All you need to do is speak. Are you a murderer? Confess. Are you a thief? Confess. Are you a sinner? Confess. #LivingTheLife
